A book that will change your life: I recently had the pleasure of meeting Eve Hillary and was introduced to her book Children of a Toxic Harvest. My interest in breast cancer and healthcare has also led me into areas of causative factors of chronic degenerative disease - especially hormonally induced cancers, for example breast and prostate cancer. Chemicals known as endocrine disrupters often used in agribusiness have been seen as responsible for an increase in cancer diagnosis in farmers and their families - even years later. As well, we can attribute rampant allergies to the chemical revolution - high production and yields have come at a tremendous cost as you will read in this account by Eve.
Children of a Toxic Harvest is a true and gripping story of Eve Hillary and her children whose lives are devastated by acute environmental illnesses.
The only woman on an isolated rural property with two young sons, Eve helps her husband with the demanding work of drenching and dipping sheep, and of running a successful horse stud. Together they face drought and environmental devastation, and undiagnosed and debilitating illnesses. Unhelpful doctors are dismissive, and Eve has to search for her own answers -battling marriage breakdown, increasing ill-health, hardship, bushfire, unfriendly neighbours and isolation.

Eve Hillary worked for many years in major hospitals in Sydney.
Eve and her then husband ran a 2000-hectare cattle and sheep property and horse stud in NSW in the 1980s, during which time she and her family were afflicted with severe environmental illness. She is now a prolific author and public speaker. Highly recommended reading for anyone who cares about wellbeing, the environment and our children.
