As patron for Reiki Australia - I am delighted to include the following recent Radio National “The Health
Report’ interview by Norman Swan. He recently featured ‘Solaris Care’on the program. Solaris Care is the
integrated cancer support centre operating within Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth.
The program features David Joske, head of Haematology and founder of SolarisCare, volunteer practitioners
and some of the patients who are receiving complementary therapies including Reiki.

David Joske says: "I was looking after a retired surgeon who in fact was dying with cerebral lymphoma, and
just in psychological agony and extreme distress that he was dying and just couldn't cope with the situation.
And I suggested to him one day on a ward round that maybe he might go down to the centre and try
something there, thinking that as a surgeon he probably would be the last person on the planet to avail
himself of the opportunity. And I saw him two days lateron a Saturday morning ward round and he was a
changed man, and he'd actually gone down and had a session of Reiki and he said that it was the most
profound and positive thing that had happened to him since he'd been in hospital."
